Delaware Supreme Court Chief Justice Myron T. Steele said that he decided to step down with three years remaining on his term because he believes it is time for new leadership and new ideas on the court. He added that he chose late November to leave the bench in order to reduce the burden on his fellow justices, the legislature, Governor Jack Markell and his successor because December is a slow period for the court and the General Assembly will still be in session.
