A mural painted by foster care youths detailing their challenges and paths to success as they age out of the system was unveiled last month at the New Castle County Courthouse in Wilmington.

“I’m very aware of the trauma these kids have experienced in their lives,” said Family Court Judge Barbara D. Crowell, who requested the mural after seeing similar ones in the Sussex and Kent county courthouses. “The arts is a terrific way for these kids to positively direct some of their feelings if they are not terribly verbal or articulate.”
