Delaware’s politicians and judicial leaders gathered today to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Superior Court’s Drug Court, the first program in the nation focused on treating offenders’ drug addiction.
U.S. Sen. Tom Carper, D-Del.; Gov. Jack Markell; state Sen. Pro Tempore Patricia Blevins, D-Elsmere; Supreme Court Chief Justice Leo E. Strine Jr.; and Superior Court President Judge James T. Vaughn Jr. were among the notables on hand today in Wilmington to honor the program’s most recent graduates. They were joined by former Superior Court Judges Jerome O. Herlihy, who currently manages the program, and Richard S. Gebelein, who conceived the program in 1994.
