Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice has launched a Delaware Court of Chancery litigation group in its Delaware office and tapped corporate law practitioner Jill K. Agro as the new unit’s first hire.

Francis A. Monaco Jr., the managing partner for Womble Carlyle’s Wilmington office, said the new group and Agro’s hiring are part of a strategic plan to focus on the three most active areas of Delaware litigation: bankruptcy, intellectual property and corporate law. Agro, formerly of Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott, will focus on litigation as well as transactional and advisory work at her new firm.
