Delaware must face up to the fact that its criminal justice system’s outputs reflect serious racial disparities, Chief Justice Leo E. Strine Jr. told bar leaders in his annual “State of the Judiciary” message to the Delaware State Bar Association last week.
Strine, in a wide-ranging passage on criminal justice issues, focused on the work of the Delaware Supreme Court’s Access to Justice Commission. In contrast to similar bodies in other states, Strine said, Delaware’s group has also been asked to focus on criminal justice, through its subcommittee on fairness in the criminal justice system.
