Halliburton and Baker Hughes, the targets of a U.S. Department of Justice antitrust lawsuit filed in Delaware federal court, are trying to have the case transferred to the Southern District of Texas, arguing that a lack of connection to the First State and public interest support a change in venue.
The DOJ on April 6 filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware to enjoin the proposed $34.6 billion merger of two of the nation’s “Big 3″ oilfield services companies, arguing the union would lead to decreased competition, a spike in prices and major disruption across a range of related markets.
