“Wills for Heroes” was held Nov. 19 at Aetna Hose Hook & Ladder Fire Co. hall in Newark. Widener University Delaware Law School students and staff with volunteer attorneys provided wills, advance health care directives and financial powers of attorneys at no cost to first responders and their spouses or partners.

According to a press release, Delaware’s firefighters, emergency medical technicians, paramedics and police had documents prepared during appointments that last roughly 90 minutes. First responders left with legal documents notarized and in effect. The program was also open to correction, parole and probation officers. Sworn and civilian people, volunteer and paid, active and retired, and their spouses or partners were also eligible.
