The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit on Tuesday upheld a lower court’s dismissal of a protracted class action accusing Geico of refusing to pay for injured car insurance customers’ medical care, finding that the class representative did not show her treatment expenses were necessary and reasonable as a result of her accident.
The woman, Sharon Anderson, represented two classes of plaintiffs who claimed that Geico’s automated claims handling system delayed or denied full payment of benefits under Delaware personal injury protection policies in the nine-year litigation.
