Delaware’s Judicial Nominating Commission has initiated the process to appoint a successor for retiring state Supreme Court Justice Jack B. Jacobs. The JNC posted a notice Wednesday seeking applications for the judicial vacancy on the Supreme Court’s website.
Although Jacobs had initially announced he would step down July 4, he has agreed to step down in June, according to sources familiar with the process. The June retirement will allow the Delaware legislature to consider Gov. Jack Markell’s nominee before it starts its summer break.
