As a committee of Delaware judges works to create consistent outcome measures for the state’s problem-solving courts, analysts say gauging recidivism, efficiency and defendant eligibility is vital to understanding their effectiveness.
The Criminal Justice Council of the Judiciary, a 15-judge committee, was charged earlier this month with reviewing Delaware’s specialty courts in a move that could result in an overhaul of the court system. Delaware Supreme Court Chief Justice Leo E. Strine Jr. announced the plan through an administrative directive on the Supreme Court’s website.
