As the Delaware Supreme Court considers an appeal in the high-profile litigation over the forced sale of TransPerfect, a group backed by employees at the translation-services company has launched a lobbying campaign that could bypass legislative norms and break tradition by asking lawmakers to speak out on a matter that is currently under judicial review.
The group, Citizens for a Pro-Business Delaware Inc., has long argued the Delaware Court of Chancery’s decision—putting the profitable firm with a deadlocked board up for sale—jeopardizes workers’ jobs. It has waged a sophisticated public relations campaign, and it has submitted draft legislation to the Delaware State Bar Association that would curb the Court of Chancery’s power to appoint a corporate custodian.
